Instagram Swaps Likes for Views on Videos

Brace yourself, Instagram community: A large change is coming for videos.

The Facebook-endemic app on Thursday announced plans to add view counts to videos over the next few weeks, showing how many people have watched the prune, in place of how many likes information technology has received.

"Views are the nearly widely expected form of feedback on video," Instagram wrote in a blog mail service. "That's why y'all'll begin to come across view counts underneath videos where before yous'd commonly see likes."

Rest assured that you lot'll still be able to come across how many likes a video has received if you're interested, but now y'all'll need to tap "views" to see this info.

Instagram said this is "the first of many ways" it plans to amend video on the app this year.

Back in 2022, Instagram rival Vine added "Loop" counts, which permit people see how many times a detail six-second prune had been played.

"Since launching video two years ago and introducing Hyperlapse and Boomerang, you lot've made video storytelling on Instagram have off," Instagram wrote. "Whether sitting front row at Fashion Calendar week or spending a day on the beach, cipher brings moments to life like video."

Meanwhile, this has been a busy week for Instagram. The photo-and video-sharing app earlier this calendar week rolled out one of its nearly requested features: multiple account switching, which lets you hands switch between multiple accounts instead of having to sign in and out every fourth dimension. Visit Instagram's profile settings to add up to five accounts to one app; find the choice at the bottom of the screen, virtually "Clear Search History" and "Log Out." Once it's set upwards, tap the preferred user name at the superlative of the profile page to make the switch, without the hassle of logging in and out.
